Death would not come quickly for any pirate as they found the Aztec Gold, but the treasure, soon frittered away on drink, food, and pleasurable company, which came at a price. They became cursed men, where in the moonlight, they are shown for what they really are: walking, neither alive nor dead, unable to live normal lives. The pirates learned that all 882 pieces of Cortés's treasure had to be returned and repaid in blood.
